Everyone is invited to The Cathedral Evening! on Saturday, May 4, 2019!
The Cathedral Evening begins at a special 4 pm Vigil Mass, followed by Wine, Dinner, Music and Recognition of Honorees in the Parish Hall. It will be our 29th Annual Awards Celebration!
This year's dinner will be catered by Juban's, with music again provided by Eric Baskin. Tickets are just $60 per person, but a ticket and reservation are required, and the deadline for reservations and payment is Monday, April 29. (You don't have to purchase tickets for a whole table, but if you wish to, each table seats six!)
Formerly known as Bishop's Day, The Cathedral Evening! is an annual event, a more formal and fun way to get to know our parish and its wonderful parishioners.
We also use the occasion of The Cathedral Evening each year to honor some of our own who have helped make us the warm and welcoming family of faith that we are. We name them as our prized “St. Joseph’s Apprentices,” and taken together with our past honorees they serve sort of as a “Cathedral Parish Hall of Fame” for us to admire and imitate.
The new St. Joseph’s Apprentices from our Parish are: Mr. and Mrs. Tom & Mary Acosta, Mrs. Dorothy Hall, Mrs. Sheila Juneau, and Bishop Robert Muench! All were thrilled and humbled to be named, let me tell you!
A few years ago an annual Cathedral Community Award was established to honor Catholics who help make the entire community of Baton Rouge a better place to be. Receiving our annual Cathedral Community Award are Mr. and Mrs. Charles & Nancy Valluzzo. Their philanthropy not just within the Church but also within the wider Baton Rouge community has made them the stuff of legend, and they too were overwhelmed at being named for this award.
