The various charitable works of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish are coordinated by our Social Responsibility Committee. From our outreach to the resident poor via our Food Pantry to the snack bags and housing vouchers offered to the homeless, from meals prepared for ex-offenders at the diocesan Joseph Homes residence for them to birthday parties and bingo shared with the residents of the Catholic-Presbyterian Apartments downtown, from the various ministries of the ecumenical Christian Outreach Center to other ways of helping that we haven't thought-of yet, the Cathedral strives to be a Church "for the poor" and disadvantaged. Persons interested in this essential way of living out our Catholic Faith are invited to take part: just call the Parish Office at 225-387-5928 or email us at by clicking here.
Although the Social Responsibility Committee usually meets every other month on the first Monday, due to the Labor Day holiday its next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 6 at 5:30 pm in the Parish Office's Large Conference Room.
