Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge, the local Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and the community of St. Joseph Cathedral again host the annual outdoor Way of the Cross downtown on Good Friday, April 14, from 9 to 10:30 am. The procession begins at the Cathedral, travels a 14-station route throughout the State Capitol grounds (about a mile in length), returning to the steps of the Cathedral.
This Way of the Cross has a special character: it is a symbolic pilgrimage highlighting the suffering of Christ in the world today through the poor, abandoned, abused, ill, homeless and forgotten. It is an opportunity for people throughout the Baton Rouge area, no matter what their religion, to come together for a day of united prayer.
For any questions about the event, please call Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge at 225-336-8770.
