Looking back at the weekly messages of Father Paul Counce, first published in The Carpenter, our weekly Parish Bulletin

I don’t have much room in this week’s Bulletin, but I just want to thank the hundreds and hundreds of persons – including Governor John Bel Edwards, Mayor Kip Holden, Chief of Police Carl Dabadie, and District Attorney Hillar Moore III – who came out this past Sunday for our special Mass for Healing in our community and the afternoon of Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament which followed. It was a wonderful addition to the outpouring of grief and affection for the law enforcement officers who were murdered the previous Sunday, and I hope it helped every one of us renew our commitment to work for peace and racial justice in our community. Special thanks go to Bishop Robert Muench, Fathers Tom Ranzino, Andrew Merrick and Josh Johnson, and the many readers, servers and music ministers who helped put the entire program together on such short notice! And last, but certainly not least, I have to acknowledge and thank Episcopalian Father Dan Krutz of the Louisiana Interchurch Conference and Lutheran Pastor Robin McCullough-Bade of the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge for joining us in prayer that afternoon as well.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Father Paul
