This weekend, September 3/4, Father Selva Raj makes a missionary appeal for our assistance to his Diocese of Kumbakonam in southern India. Although about the size of our own diocese in territory and Catholic population, they have five times more priests and religious, but a budget only one-tenth of ours here in the USA.
Please welcome Father Selva, and listen to his fascinating descriptions of Catholic life as an extreme minority in the midst of Hindu India. Then, offer something for them. There won’t be envelopes for this collection, so we’ll pass the basket twice: make checks out to St. Joseph Cathedral and we’ll make sure that the monies collected are forwarded to his religious superiors.
