Looking back at the weekly messages of Father Paul Counce, first published in The Carpenter, our weekly Parish Bulletin

Everyone who was there agrees that last weekend’s special “Evening at the Cathedral” was a huge success! It was an outstanding tribute to the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, who received our Cathedral Community Award in honor of the many works of their health-care and educational apostolates, as well as their witness to consecrated life in our midst. And our new “St. Joseph’s Apprentices” – Charlotte Anthony, Tino and Tere Dalmau, Boyd Newman and Charles Salemi – all admitted that they were humbled to be so honored, and promised to redouble their efforts at keeping our Parish the best in the diocese!
So thank you to everyone who helped make it such a wonderful time. Our Director of Administration, Mrs. Sheila Juneau, and the chair of our Development Committee, Mrs. Bobbie Carey, led teams of workers in attending to many, many details of the celebration. We’re especially grateful to the catering staff of Juban’s Restaurant, to Mr. Eric Baskin, who provided music, and to Saia Technology, who donated the sound system. Two special notes of appreciation have to go to Mrs. Joy Weston for the flower arrangements and to Mrs. Wanda Koch for the artwork and layout of the invitations and dinner programs. It was a job well-done by everyone.
Lastly, I like to point out that The Cathedral Evening is not a fund-raiser. Instead, it’s a “friend-raiser,” designed for us all to have a good time and remind ourselves of our blessings. Yet it is always a welcome thing that so many parishioners and friends – even some who can’t attend! – contribute financially to making it such a success. So my last word of gratitude goes out to these special donors of at least $50 to this year’s Evening: M/M Ben/Pat Alford, M/M Jamie Berdon, M/M Greg/Katie Bodin, Ms Carolyn Daigle, M/M Don/Gerry Daigle, Ms Barbara Ehrhardt, M/M Francis/Barbara Guglielmo, M/M Butch/Margaret Hart, M/M Blayne/Valerie Honeycutt, Archbishop Alfred Hughes, Mrs Loyda Juneau, M/M Louis/Jackie McHardy, M/M Don/Ginger Miller, M/M Buddy/Carolyn Morris, Mr Andy Plaisance, M/M George/Mary Rettig, Ms Gloria Simmons, M/M Frank/Marcy Simoneaux, Father Frank Uter, and Deacon/M David/Elaine Warriner.
Are you coming on Saturday, May 27, at 10 am to the ordination of Deacons Ryan Hallford and Pat Broussard as priests, and our own parishioner-seminarian Mr. Tim Grimes as a deacon? Please do: ordination ceremonies are wonderful moments of worship and celebration, and the reception afterwards that we’re going to have will be fun too!
Sincerely in the Risen Lord,
