Weather forecasters say that the Atlantic "Hurricane Season" begins in June and lasts through November each year. We here in the region adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico know all to well the destructiveness of such storms.

The Catholic bishops of the State of Louisiana designate a day each year as an annual “Day of Fasting and Prayer for Hurricane Protection.” In 2020 this is Friday, June 5. Accordingly, Bishop Michael Duca will celebrate the special annual “Mass for Hurricane Protection” at 12 noon here on that day. Personnel from State and local emergency preparedness offices will assist with liturgical ministries during the Mass.

Everyone is invited and in fact urged to come - with masks on and maintaining all proper social distancing! - and add your prayers on this occasion if you possibly can!
